Hello Pastor Ruben,

Thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging reflection on the immutability of God. You highlighted Psalm 136:1, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever,” and James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” These verses beautifully affirm that God’s nature—His goodness, love, and generosity—remains constant, even as the world around us shifts and falters.

Another verse that echoes this truth is Malachi 3:6: “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” This verse not only reinforces God’s unchanging nature but also connects it to His mercy and covenant faithfulness. Because God does not change, His promises remain secure, and His people are preserved.

This truth offers deep comfort in our daily walk. When life feels unstable or when we face trials, we can anchor ourselves in the certainty of God’s character. Practically, this means we can encourage others to journal God’s past faithfulness, meditate on His promises, and surround themselves with a community that reminds them of His truth. In doing so, we help cultivate a peace that surpasses understanding.

You asked, “How can we help others around us to find peace and assurance in God's unchanging nature during times of doubt or hardship?” One way is through testimony—sharing stories of how God has remained faithful in our own lives. Another is through discipleship—walking alongside others in prayer and Scripture, helping them see God’s hand even in the storm. We can also create spaces in our churches for lament and hope to coexist, where people feel safe to express doubt while being gently pointed back to God’s unchanging love.

What are some ways your congregation has experienced God’s constancy in recent seasons?

God Bless You, Pastor Johnson
